Privacy Policy

The short version
VettedFur collects standard analytics data to understand which articles are useful and which aren't. We don't sell your data. We don't run ad networks that profile you. We use affiliate cookies (set by Amazon and other retailers when you click through our links) — those are how we make money, and they're managed by the retailers, not us.
What we collect
- Standard analytics via Google Analytics 4 — anonymous page views, time on page, referrer, approximate geographic region (city level, derived from IP). We do not collect personally identifiable information through analytics.
- Affiliate click events — when you click an affiliate link, we log the article slug and product name so we can understand which content drives buying intent. No personal data is attached.
- Email addresses if you sign up for our newsletter. Emails are stored with our newsletter provider and used solely for sending the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email.
What we don't collect
- We don't run cross-site behavioral ad tracking.
- We don't sell, rent, or trade analytics or email data to third parties.
- We don't fingerprint your device beyond what GA4 collects by default.
- We don't require an account, login, or any personal identifier to read articles.
Cookies
This site uses cookies for two purposes:
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics 4 to measure pageviews and basic engagement. These can be opted out of via your browser settings or browser extensions like "Google Analytics Opt-out."
- Affiliate cookies — when you click an affiliate link and visit a retailer (e.g., Amazon, Wayfair), the retailer sets a cookie that lets them attribute the eventual purchase back to us. We don't see this cookie or your purchase details — only the retailer does. The retailer's privacy policy applies.
Third parties
Our analytics provider (Google) and our hosting provider (Cloudflare) both have access to standard server-log information (IP address, user agent) for the limited purposes of running the service and detecting abuse. Their respective privacy policies apply to that data.
Your rights
If you're in California, the EU, or another jurisdiction with data privacy laws, you have rights regarding the data collected about you, including the right to access, correct, or delete your data. Email [email protected] with your request and we'll respond within 30 days.
For analytics data, the practical answer is usually "use the GA4 opt-out browser extension or block cookies in your browser settings" — that prevents collection from happening in the first place.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
We update this policy when our practices change. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be noted on the homepage for at least 30 days.
